La Toya Jackson Wishes Michael Las Vegas Tribute ‘Great Success’

The Jackson family is endorsing a Las Vegas-planned tribute to Michael on what would’ve been the King of Pop’s 51st birthday.

In a statement to KVBC’s Alicia Jacobs, Michael’s sister La Toya wished the event — scheduled for August 29 — “great success… on behalf of my entire family.”

“While my family & I continue to mourn the loss of our beloved Michael, it warms our hearts to know of the very special event happening in Las Vegas on my brother’s birthday,” she said in the statement. “Michael’s true love was his music & his fans & I am quite certain he would be honored, to know of his music & talent being celebrated in such a wonderful manner.”

As previously reported by Access Hollywood, the performance will be held at the Palms Hotel and Casino inside The Pearl venue, a hotel spokesperson confirmed.

Show performers have not yet been announced, but La Toya praised the concert for supporting charities close to Michael, who died on June 25.

“Causes which support music education have always been near & dear to the Jackson family, & to know that some of Michael’s musical masterpieces will help young people in Las Vegas pursue their dreams, is a tribute befitting our Michael,” she continued. “On behalf of my entire family, I wish you great success with your event…”
