Lady Gaga Reveals Inspiration Behind ‘Born This Way’ Grammy Performance

Lady Gaga’s dramatic entrance and performance at The 53rd Annual Grammy Awards last weekend is still the talk of the music world – and the singer broke down the thoughts behind her vessel and striking stage show to Access Hollywood.

“I wanted to experience a birth on stage. I wanted to, without describing the performance art piece too much, because I would like the world to experience it on their own,” she told Access on Thursday in New York City. “It’s never to late to say, ‘I may have been born one way, but I choose to be born this way.’”

The singer said Sunday’s successful performance of her new song, “Born This Way,” was the pinnacle of her dreams.

“Not only did we take home some awards, which was an honor and a dream of mine since I was very, very young, but also because the message of ‘Born This Way’ is so positive and so much about self love and empowerment,” she continued.

The singer, who is the face of the VIVA GLAM / MAC AIDS Fund AIDS Initiative, sported a latex outfit on Thursday to raise sex education awareness.

“Today I am wearing a latex pant suit that is inspired by condoms, because today we are going to talk about safe sex,” Gaga explained. “It’s a very tremendous part of my destiny… to use my success to make a difference.”

Proceeds from the singer’s MAC taupe hued lipstick will help fund the prevention of HIV.

Gaga’s album, also titled “Born This Way,” is due out on May 23. The single if available now on iTunes.
