Lady Gaga Talks Sex, Drugs & Going ‘Completely Mental’

Lady Gaga has never been shy about expressing herself, and now the singer is revealing even more in a candid new interview about her sex life, drug use and past hard times.

“I do [have sex,] but I’m certainly not promiscuous,” the singer told Vanity Fair for its September Style issue.

The 24-year-old singer, whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, is reportedly back together with her ex, musician/bartender, Luc Carl.

Though Gaga might seem on top of the world right now, she opened up about her recent troubled past.

“I was completely mental and had just been through so much,” she said of an unspecified incident in her past. “I hit rock bottom, and it was enough to send a person over the edge. My mother knew the truth about that day, and she screamed so loud on the other end of the phone, I’ll never forget it. And she said, ‘I’m coming to get you.’”

Gaga opted for the care and support of her 82-year-old grandmother instead of entering rehab.

“I cried,” she recalled of the time she spent in West Virginia with her grandmother. “I told her I thought my life was over and I have no hope and I’ve worked so hard, and I knew I was good. What would I do now? And she said, ‘I’m gonna let you cry for a few more hours. And then after those few hours are up, you’re gonna stop crying, you’re gonna pick yourself up, you’re gonna go back to New York, and you’re gonna kick some ass.’”

In a particularly truthful part of the interview, Gaga talked about her drug use, telling Vanity Fair it’s “mostly cocaine” because she’s “terrified of heroin.”

“I won’t lie; it’s occasional. And when I say occasional, I mean maybe a couple of times a year,” she told the mag.

The singer also talked about her recent headline-making trip to the ballpark in June, where she flashed her bra and flipped off the paparazzi.

“Of course I got drunk at Yankee Stadium,” she told the mag, explaining that she’s not worried about people’s impression following the incident. “My real fans know who I truly am, and they know what I represent and what I mean, and my music and my performance is what really speaks.”
