Lampley Denies Wrongdoing After Arrest

ENCINITAS, Calif. (January 5, 2007) — Sports announcer Jim Lampley denies wrongdoing after being arrested for investigation of felony domestic violence.

The 57-year-old Lampley was taken into custody Wednesday in Encinitas and booked on the felony.

A sheriff’s investigator says Lampley also was booked for investigation of violating a restraining order and dissuading a witness, both misdemeanors. He’s free on bail.

San Diego Sheriff’s Captain Glenn Revell says “there was an altercation between Mister Lampley and a 28-year-old female with whom he reportedly has a dating relationship.”

Revell declined to elaborate on specifics. According to court papers obtained by Access Hollywood, the woman is identified as Candice Sanders.

In a statement, Lampley says he is innocent and will vigorously defend himself. He also thanked his “friends and family for their support during this difficult time.”
