Larry Birkhead To Play Role In Daniel Smith Death Case?

Larry Birkhead may play a role in the Bahamian investigation into the death of Anna Nicole Smith?s son Daniel.

A formal inquest into the 20 year old?s death is set to take place on March 26 in the Bahamas. Birkhead, the photographer, who is currently in Nassau, working to prove he is the father of Anna?s daughter Dannielynn, revealed to Access Hollywood he may play a role in the proceedings.

?There?s a possibility that I could be called to testify for in the inquest in the death of Anna?s son Daniel,? Birkhead revealed in an exclusive interview with Access.

The photographer said the police have already been in touch with him as they gathered evidence and information for their investigation.

?Without going into specifics the police have already asked me for a statement in the past,? he said. ?Whether or not they feel like any of that information in that statement was something that could add to that inquest — I think that?s what they?re basing their decision on whether or not they call me.?

Birkhead said he remains available to speak to the police if they need him.

?I?ll do what I have to do and abide by the law. If I have to be there then I will,? he said.

Daniel Smith died in September of last year from a lethal combination of Methadone and two antidepressants, according to a doctor who conducted a private autopsy. Smith had a prescription for the antidepressant Lexapro but his family did not know the source of the other drugs, a doctor told the Associated Press not long after the young man?s passing.
