Larry David Talks HBO’s Clear History & The Future Of Curb Your Enthusiasm

Larry David is back on HBO, but not with another installment of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” just yet.

The actor is starring in the cable movie “Clear History” (premiering August 10 at 9 PM), about Nathan Flomm, a character who leaves the company he works for following a dispute with his boss and relinquishes ownership in his shares of the company right before they hit it big with a new electric car.

On Thursday, Larry met with journalists at the Television Critics Association Summer Tour in Beverly Hills where he explained why he chose to do the film – which also stars Jon Hamm (he plays Will Haney, Nathan’s boss and an executive who gets very rich off the car) – instead of another season of “Curb.”

“I was thinking about ‘Curb,’ or thinking about doing a movie and I thought, ‘You know, perhaps it’s time I tried something else,’ so I decided to do the movie,” Larry explained. “It’s not like, ‘Oh, I have these ideas that I can use on ‘Curb,’ but I want to do them in a movie,’ because I wasn’t thinking that way. I was thinking [of] either doing one or the other. I just thought it was time to try something else.”

In the first part of the film, Larry’s character Nathan has a unique look – lots of hair and a bushy beard – and the role required more time in the makeup chair than he expected.

“The makeup was intolerable,” Larry said. “To get to sit in that chair for an hour every morning, to put that on, it felt like I had 10,000 insects on my head. I couldn’t stand it, but, I thought I cut quite a figure.”

As for the future of “Curb,” Larry said he hasn’t made any decisions.

“I really don’t know. I couldn’t say. Ask me in six months,” he said.

“I’m just an indecisive fellow — you should see me at a restaurant,” he added later on. “It’s a big decision, by the way, to decide to do a season of that show. I don’t take it lightly.”
