Laura Linney ‘Scared To Death’ Of British Accent

LOS ANGELES (October 19, 2006) — Laura Linney says she “was scared to death”to do the accent in the British comedy, “Driving Lessons.”

She plays Rupert Grint’s stern mother.

Linney says normally she loves doing accents and they’re usually easy for her.

But, playing this English mum from a specific neighborhood “was hard.”

She says “you’re just like ‘oh, god, please, don’t let me embarrass every American actor.”’
