Laura Prepon Shoots Down Tom Cruise Romance Rumors

Laura Prepon is not dating Tom Cruise, according to… Laura Prepon.

The “Orange Is The New Black” star opened up in a new interview about the romance rumors, her popular Netflix series and her involvement in the Church of Scientology.

“It’s just so funny that, when people don’t know, they just make stuff up, [like], apparently I’m dating Tom Cruise right now,” Laura told SheKnows.com. “And apparently he doesn’t want me doing the show because I portray a lesbian and I’m a Scientologist. This is false; where are they even getting this stuff?

“It’s unbelievable to me,” she added.

Laura suggested the romance rumors with Tom began due to both stars being Scientologists.

“The thing that sucks is that there’s so much false data because people are in mystery as to what Scientology is, so they just kind of make up stuff,” she continued. “It’s kind of unfortunate because then I have to be like, ‘No, that’s actually not what’s happening.’”

The former “That ‘70s Show” star also addressed Scientology’s perceived anti-gay stance, as it relates to her portrayal of her lesbian “OITNB” character, as well as her own efforts in support of the gay community.

“You know, in terms of portraying a lesbian on the show, I am a huge supporter of the LGBT community. I’m going to the GLAAD Awards [in NYC] in a few weeks. I went to the human rights campaign. I flew up to San Francisco and did this whole thing and I won this award [for] being a straight woman portraying a gay woman on camera. I’m a total supporter of the LGBT and they are an amazing fan base,” Laura added.

The rumors of a romance with Tom first sprouted earlier this month. At the time, multiple sources close to the situation also shot down the reports to Access Hollywood.

“The story is false,” one source told Access Hollywood, while another went further, adding “They are not dating. They have never met.”
