LeAnn Rimes and Eddie Cibrian are coming to reality TV – and bringing the comedy?
The latest headline-making couple set to jump into the reality TV world told Access Hollywood their new VH1 series will delve into a side of themselves not seen very often.
"Everybody has used our lives as entertainment, or what they think they know of it. It was time to start taking control of it and laughing about [it] and really showing the true story of who we are and how we live life," LeAnn told Access. "It's not what you thought."
The couple, whose relationship had been raked through gossip blogs and splashed on magazine covers, explained that having a laugh is sometimes their best way to deal.
"Our story has been kind of told one-sidedly through a kind of a tabloid fodder environment and every week it's sometimes just ridiculous and so we wanted to take that and have fun with it and show this is how we deal with that stuff," Eddie said, describing the series. "And it's really through comedy."
Some topics covered will include fake reported pregnancies and Twitter wars.
"We learned… to laugh at any situation and at yourselves. We're joking about things constantly," the singer said.
And what about Eddie's ex, Brandi Glanville, who is known to talk openly about the actor and LeAnn on her reality series, "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills"?
"We don't shy away from [her]," he said of his ex-wife, who he has two children with. "The show is not an attack back at anybody. It's just the truth. It's just who we are and authenticity is in that."
"LeAnn & Eddie" debuts on July 17 on VH1.
