Lena Dunham & ‘Girls’ Co-Stars React To Her ‘Scandal’ Wig

Lena Dunham got “wiggy” with it when filming her guest spot on an upcoming episode of “Scandal.”

On Thursday, the “Girls” star Instagrammed a photo in costume goofing around on set with none other than Olivia Pope herself, Kerry Washington.

Lena Dunham got goofy with Kerry Washington while filming her guest appearance on ‘Scandal.’ The ‘Girls’ star Instagrammed on March 5, 2015, ‘Finally at liberty to reveal this pic of me on the #scandal set as “Kinky Sue” with my true [love]@kerrywashington’ (Instagram)

Lena told Access Hollywood about the response she’s received for the wig she wore to embody the character of Kinky Sue.

“People are talking about the wig. I think the wig looks better on screen than it does in photos. I know this looks pretty wiggy,” she told Access – referring to the photo she posted – on Sunday at PaleyFest in Hollywood. “It’s not a super wiggy wig.”

Lena insisted the hair was so convincing, it fooled one of her co-stars.

“In fact, one of the guys I had a scene with didn’t even know it was a wig until at the end of the day I ripped it off and went, ‘Ahh.’ And he looked terrified! Like I was scalping myself,” she laughed.

Further details of Lena’s guest role remain a tightly guarded secret, so fans will just have to wait until the episode, titled “It’s Good to Be Kink,” airs on March 19 at 9/8c on ABC.

“I’m such a huge fan,” Lena said. “Obviously I need to stay in the good graces of Shonda Rhimes forever, so I can’t share any spoilers.”

Her “Girls” co-stars Allison Williams and Andrew Rannells told Access they are all about Lena’s wig!

“I mean, it opened up my world to wigs and Lena,” Allison said.

Andrew even suggested that the cast of “Girls” should begin wearing wigs rather than going au naturel.

“Maybe Season 5, we all wear wigs. It would save time,” he reasoned.

Both Allison and Andrew have worn wigs for roles before. Allison in NBC’s live broadcast of “Peter Pan” and Andrew in the Broadway production of “Hedwig and the Angry Inch.”

“Did you keep your ‘Peter Pan’ wig?” Andrew asked Allison in a joint interview with Access

“I tried to,” she confessed. “I didn’t.”

“Did you really?!” he enthusiastically reacted.

Allison then posed the question to Andrew, “Did you keep your Hegwig [wigs]?”

“No, they had to go back,” he said, sounding disappointed.

But, Allison then revealed that she did get to bring home a special souvenir from her time in Neverland.

“I got to keep my costume, though,” she revealed. “I put that in my contract.”

“Girls” airs Sundays at 9 PM on HBO.
