Leonardo DiCaprio To Play A Viking In Mel Gibson Movie

Prepare to see Leonardo DiCaprio in a horned helmet and clutching a spear – the actor is reportedly set to play a Viking in a Mel Gibson-directed movie.

According to Variety, Leonardo and Mel are teaming up to bring the Viking world to the big screen.

“This will be an awe-inspiring story, created with some of the industry’s finest cinematic talent and I am just over the moon to be making this film with Mel, Leo and [screenwriter William Monahan],” the movie’s producer Graham King said in a statement to the trade.

Details on the Viking epic, which will be the first project Leo and Mel have worked on together, are being kept under wraps.

Leo just wrapped the Christopher Nolan-directed “Inception” and will next be seen on the big screen in the Martin Scorsese-directed “Shutter Island,” which hits theaters on February 19. Mel just wrapped “The Beaver,” directed by Jodie Foster.

In more Leo movie news, as previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, the actor will also lend his pipes to an animated film for the first time ever — “The Guardians” — due in 2012 from Dreamworks Animation.
