It’s Golden Globes time again — and I’m back for a second day of live-blogging Access Hollywood’s “Stuff You Must” gifting lounge, co-sponsored by On3 Productions at the Sofitel in West Hollywood. I’ll be here all day with the latest celeb scoop as film and television’s biggest stars pick up goodies… all in the name of charity!
9:30 AM — Kate Walsh and Shenae Grimes start the day off right, presenting the check from CVS/Pharmacy to Access Hollywood‘s Billy Bush’s charity of choice, the Lollipop Theater Network, and also benefitting Best Buddies. Kate has her boyfriend Neil by her side and the two look quite smitten with each other. While perusing the lounge, Kate grabs most of the goods for her beau.
10:30 AM — “Youth In Revolt” star Portia Doubleday is in a hairy situation with her Conair Infiniti Cord-Keeper dryer… Billy and Kate are chowing down on some Hostess Cupcakes… Kym Johnson looks ready to “Dance” up a storm with her new Guess by Marciano bag.
10:00 AM — After she presented the check to Billy, he returned the favor to Kate by helping her try on New Balance shoes, Cinderella style. Kate channeled her inner tween and grabbed a pair of white and blue cheetah print shoes from the Fierce Trax Collection, which was designed for tweens. I guess having that cute new boyfriend on her arm is making her feel young again!
11:00 AM — Kym Johnson grabs a pair of Blessed & Cursed denim boyfriend shorts so she can show off those fantastic legs.
11:15 AM — The little boy from “Modern Family,” Nolan Gould, cracks up our producer Tony and crew Kevin and Matt when tells them he can’t eat a Hostess Cupcake today because he won’t be able to fit into his Golden Globe tux! But the child star was ready for the dance floor — he later busted a move to Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up.”
11:30 AM — I hit up the CVS Beauty 360 spa where celebrity makeup guru Vincent Longo helps me out with a look to go with my Golden Globe dress. The dress is teal so he decides that warm plum colors on the eyes would work best. He gets my makeup done just in time for my first interview of the day, the ladies of “Dexter”!
11:45 AM — “Dexter’s” Jennifer Carpenter and Julie Benz try on shoes at Guess. I’m jealous of the really cute black boots Julie grabs. Jennifer gets a pair of shoes for her husband Michael C. Hall. She tells me he is doing great since announcing he had Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He’s finishing up treatment now and in remission. She tears up while talking about how close this has brought them as a couple. Julie chats up the “Dexter” finale, where her character Rita was murdered. She jokes, “Did I have to die so gruesomely?!” Although she was sad to leave the show, she’s excited for her upcoming role on “Desperate Housewives.” Julie tells me walking onto Wisteria Lane was surreal and all the “Desperate” ladies have been super sweet to her during filming.
1:00 PM — “Mad Men’s” Bryan Batt tells the girls at Palm he has the oldest cell phone known to man. “I think I have an abicus. It’s antiquated!” he joked. He happily grabs a new Palm Pixi Plus with Verizon Wireless.
1:30 PM — Celebrity hair stylist Ric Pipino helps me plan out my hair for tomorrow’s red carpet. I tell him my dress is very Grecian inspired. So he decides long, loose curls would be the perfect look to keep it young and fresh. While he was working on my hair Bridget Moynahan stops by to say hello. She is a client and tells him that she used his products that morning on her hair. “They smell so good,” she told him.
1:45 PM — Sara Rue has a big smile on her face as she checks out watches from Badgley Mischka and jewelry from designer Jill Reno. Of course she is smiling. What girls don’t love jewelry?!
2:00 PM — The always playful and fun Neil Patrick Harris arrives and first stops off for some mint tea at the Keurig coffee station. I asked what else was in it. “Vodka,” he jokes. He had just grabbed some men’s fashion sneakers from Guess and was excited they were slip-ons so he didn’t have to lace them up. He tells me that he is presenting with Jane Krakowski from “30 Rock” tomorrow. I tell him that she is in the lounge and he says he’s going to hook up with her and work out their “shtick” for when they present. I tried to get some scoop on Carrie Underwood’s appearance on “How I Met Your Mother” but he’s not willing to dish any dirt. Damn! He says they will also be announcing another big guest star soon, who’s “on par with Carrie Underwood” according to Neil. Again, I try to dig up the dish. All I could get is that’s it’s a hot chick. “Blonde, brunette or red head?” I inquire. He’s not saying. Double damn! Right after our interview he pops over to say hello to Jane who is trying on shoes at New Balance.
2:15 PM — As Jane is checking out cards at the Hallmark station I grab her for an interview. I tell her a little birdie told me she was presenting with Neil Patrick Harris. She laughs and says, “Oh was that little birdie Neil Patrick Harris?” Ironically, she tells me that they just worked out their schtick together for tomorrow’s show. NPH clearly was not joking when he said that! Jane shows me her beautiful new engagement ring which her fiancé designed himself. She says she has a hard time making decisions so she is glad he didn’t ask for any help with it. They got engaged during a 13 hour snow storm. How romantic!
2:30 PM — Last night I chatted with Gabourey Sidibe from the movie “Precious” at the Critics Choice Awards. She was going crazy about standing next to Tracy Morgan who she got to meet as our cameras rolled. Today she was star struck over meeting Neil Patrick Harris. She told him she was the biggest Doogie Howser fan growing up. Weren’t we all? She snags some gummy bears from the AMC Premiere pass station and drops it in her bag. I’ve been stealing popcorn from them all day.
2:45 PM — As Mark Feuerstein checks out the new Palm Pre I explain how I embarrass myself by revealing that I watch “The Real Housewives Of Orange County” on the treadmill at the gym on Sprint TV via my Palm Pre. Perhaps I will also check out his show “Royal Pains” from USA Network if it’s available. He tells me season 2 will return in May and they start filming soon. They are heading to Puerto Rico to film some episodes which is being used as stand-in for Cuba.
3:00 PM — The amazingly beautiful Sofia Vergara from “Modern Family” tells me her dress tomorrow will be Carolina Herrera. The name rolls of her tongue and sounds so good with her accent. She tells me her favorite thing in the lounge was the Keurig coffee maker which she is going to bring to the set because they have the worst coffee. She wants to show everyone on the set what Colombian coffee really is.
3:30 PM — I head out to grab a snack just as David Spade hits the lounge.
Time to go get some beauty sleep so I can be ready to go for the Golden Globe red carpet.
