Liza Minnelli’s Amazing Weight Loss: How She Did It

Stage and screen legend Liza Minnelli is looking great these days. Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush caught up with the star at New York City’s famed Carlyle Hotel to find out how she did it.

“Now I don’t mean to focus on the physical or the superficial but jeez, you look terrific!” a stunned Billy exclaimed.

“Thank you and that’s not superficial when you say that. Thank you,” Liza responded.

“It’s hot, it’s sexy – what is going on Liza?” Billy asked.

“This is from eating right and performing and being happy,” she explained. “I tried everything and we all have, come on! All the ladies out there know what I’m talking about — you try everything.”

Liza dropped 40 pounds thanks to a strenuous five-hour-a-day dance rehearsal schedule for her upcoming nightclub show, “The Godmother and the Goddaughter,” a tribute to her own Godmother, Kay Thompson.” The show is being directed and was choreographed by Liza’s collaborator of 37 years, Ron Lewis.

Liza said that outside the show she is leading a very healthy lifestyle.

“I get up early, I work hard, I watch TV and I go to sleep,” she said. “It sounds boring, but I’m loving it.”

It’s not surprising one of Liza’s TV watching faves is “Dancing With The Stars.”

“Why don’t you get on ‘Dancing With the Stars?’” Billy asked.

“Because, I’m still doing it,” she said.

Liza is in talks to perform on the show, but until then, she is letting her voice be heard.

“I vote! Yes, I pick up the phone and vote,” she said. “I go, ‘Hello?’ I think you know they count on your votes. That’s what I think the audience likes – we’re all part of it.”
