Despite Louie’s injury, the comedian appears to be keeping his sense of humor intact.

“He is finding diving to be more dangerous than standup,” the statement concluded.

The 59-year-old funnyman was scheduled to appear on Access Hollywood Live on Friday, but was forced to cancel due to his bruised ribs.

Later on Friday, Louie spoke to Access’ Shaun Robinson about his future on the show.

“I don’t want to die doing this,” he said.

“What would it mean if you had to drop out?” Shaun asked.

“It would crush me. It would be real devastating,” he continued. “I’m in it to win it… I’m not a quitter.”

The comedian recounted how his injury occurred.

“I went to do my move and I didn’t do it enough when you don’t do your move enough your body is out of position. Rather than going in the right way, I went in the tummy way and I got a big tummy,” he told Shaun. “People call it a belly flop, it’s more like slim, slam, bam, jam!”

Fellow competitor Kareem Abdul-Jabbar saw Louie’s mishap go down.

“It was horrible. He missed his dive. He landed in the wrong position flat on his torso,” Kareem recounted. “I saw his face when he came out he wasn’t happy. He stayed in the pool for a good 10 or 15 minutes just recouping and trying to get it together.”

“Splash” airs Tuesdays on ABC at 8 PM.
