Luke Evans On Dedicating His The Hobbit: The Desolation Of Smaug Performance To Paul Walker

Luke Evans makes his debut as Bard The Bowman in “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug,” and the actor has chosen to dedicate his performance to the late Paul Walker.

On Monday night, as he geared up for the movie’s Los Angeles premiere, Luke Tweeted, “Paul Walker, my performance in the Hobbit is dedicated to you.”

At the junket for the film, he told Access Hollywood about making the dedication to his “Fast and Furious 6” co-star.

“I just want him to be remembered and I want to keep his spirit alive somehow, because he was such a lovely guy and it’s just my little way of showing my love and loss, in a sort of public way,” Luke told Access. “I just wanted him to know, I wanted everyone to know, that that was for him, I dedicated my performance to him.”

The Welsh actor said he remembers Paul fondly.

“He was incredibly warm and generous and kind. He was a very open guy,” Luke said.

“He was just warm and made me feel very welcome on set. He was a great person to be around on a film set,” he added.

Luke’s gesture was seen by a close pal of the late “Fast” star.

“I know that one of Paul’s very good friends who travelled with him when we did the film, I got close to him as well — very lovely guy — he acknowledged it and said it was a nice thing to do. … I just wanted to do it,” he said.

“I hope he’s remembered for a very long time ‘cause he was such a lovely guy,” Luke added of Paul.
