Score a victory for the Timberlakes.

The European publication Heat has admitted that a story it ran in September, claiming Timberlake was “flirty” with a woman at a Paris nightclub, was false. Its publisher, Bauer Consumer Media, has also issued a court-ordered apology, stating it “regrets any embarrassment caused to the couple and unreservedly [apologizes] to them.”

Timberlake had filed a defamation lawsuit over the article whose headline read, “Justin Timberlake gets flirty with another woman, It is not his wife!” and “The flirty photos that rocked Justin and Jessica’s marriage”.

During an appearance on Tuesday in the High Court of Dublin, attorneys for Bauer Consumer Media admitted that the article was based on an “unfounded report” about Timberlake’s alleged behavior at a birthday party following one of his concerts. The publisher also conceded that quotes in the story attributed to Biel “had never been made by her.”

Lawyers for Timberlake and Biel released a statement, saying the couple is “very satisfied with this categoric retraction of what was a false and unfounded story.”
