Maksim Chmerkovskiy Talks ‘Dancing’ Season 11: ‘If They’ll Have Me, I’ll Come Back’

Maksim Chmerkovskiy hasn’t yet got the call, but he’s hoping to return to “Dancing with the Stars” when Season 11 kicks off on ABC in September.

“We always find out right before you guys find out,” Maks told AccessHollywood.com on Thursday at the Lexus Darker Side of Green event, of how the professional dancers learn they are a part of the show. “Hopefully… I think it’s a great show and I love being on it and if they’ll have me, I’ll come back.”

Maks told Access that the dancers aren’t invited into the process of choosing celebs for the show, even though they try to toss names into the casting hat.

“We always suggest. My suggestion would be, just give me somebody like Erin [Andrews] and I’m good,” he said.

The dancer also told Access he was glad Tom Bergeron, the co-host of “DWTS” was nominated once again for an Emmy – for Outstanding Host For A Reality Or Reality-Competition Program.

“We called Tom,” Maks said of the dancers’ reaction to the news. “Hopefully it’ll be his year. He really does make the show amazing. Without him, we’d probably [be just a] bunch of dancers.”

In related Maks news, the dancer, who considers New York his home, admitted that he was disappointed that LeBron James chose to head to Miami instead of the New Jersey Nets.

“I think it’s gonna be an amazing team. I’m a little bummed he didn’t choose my Nets, but we’ll try to make do without him,” he laughed.

“Dancing with the Stars” returns to ABC on September 20 at 8 PM.
