A couple of officials from Malawi say they’ve got Madonna’s back.
The two officials are praising the pop star for adopting a child from their country and are taking a shot at those who’ve been critical of Madonna for adopting the 13-month-old motherless boy.
Some critics have said it would have been better for the child if Madonna had helped his impoverished father to care for him in Malawi. Madonna has said the father turned down that offer.
One of the officials says what Madonna has done “is great.” And the other notes that Madonna’s charity has helped several thousand children in the African nation, something for which the government “is grateful.”
The Malawian officials made their comments in Edinburgh, Scotland, where they were
attending programs aimed at helping teachers from Malawi.
