Man Behind ‘Back To The Future’ Proposal Clip On How He Pulled It Off!

The “Back to the Future” marriage proposal has become the latest viral video sensation and one of the most original pop-the-question ideas yet.

So how exactly did longtime “BTTF” fan Corey Goldfeder pull it off?

Corey took his proposal to his current wife, Andrea, to a whole new level, using a green screen and hours of editing to insert himself in a scene from the film… literally.

Though some have commented on the amateur look of the clip, it still managed to be an unforgettable moment for he and his wife.

“It was good enough to totally surprise Andrea and make an exciting proposal,” he told AccessHollywood.com. “It was never intended to stand up to a million armchair critics sniping at it online!”

The hopeless romantic convinced his girlfriend they were going to a revival of “Back to the Future” in downtown New York, where he was able to persuade the theatre to change the marquee the night of the event to keep with the story.

To keep from suspicion, Corey also invited people to fill the theatre.

“I mostly got friends of friends, and neighbors of friends,” Corey said. “The theatre was so dark in the end she couldn’t see any faces…I couldn’t see them either.”

In the venue, the movie started as planned, but when it came to a scene that originally starred Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd, Corey appears as none other than Marty McFly. He cleverly asks Doc Brown about popping the question, who in turn answers with real responses used in the film.

His on-screen character then turned it over to his real self where he asked the ultimate question…Shortly after, as though waiting for her answer, the on-screen Corey speaks up again.

“Congratulations, she said yes!” he says with a smile from ear to ear — luckily, the on-screen Corey was right.

The idea to use “Back to the Future” came from a special moment early on in the couple’s courtship.

“I wore that costume to a costume party with her,” he said of the Marty McFly costume. “The relevance came from there.”

Ironically, Andrea had made a comment about her boyfriend’s enthusiasm for the revival prior to being duped into entering the theater.

“‘Wow, you are really excited about this movie,’” Corey recounted her saying, adding she even threw in a little foreshadowing. “‘I hope you are this excited on the day you propose to me!’”

Eight months after being married, the couple submitted their unique proposal clip to a contest called The Ultimate Proposal, which is set to announce a winner on Wednesday.
