Man Of Steel: Henry Cavill Reveals How He Got In Superman Shape

Getting Superman’s body is no easy task, and it’s something that “Man of Steel” star Henry Cavill took very serious.

The 30-year-old British actor told Access Hollywood he spent 10 months crafting his more-powerful-than-a-locomotive body.

“It was getting up at the crack of dawn, trying to find time to eat before training and time to digest before going into the gym,” he told Access at the “Man of Steel” junket.

The actor used two trainers and a multi-layered approach to beefing up and then toning his body into superhero shape.

”[We] went through sort of like a foundation phrase, or a conditioning phase, and then technique work, then mass building and then leaning for the suit,” he said of donning the iconic form-fitting caped costume.

But it wasn’t just the suit he had to prepare for. As fans of Henry know, the actor is sporting plenty of skin in the many trailers that have been released.

“Then maintenance and fine tuning during shooting and then leaning up again for the shirtless period, and then just maintenance and fine tuning towards the end,” he added.

So is Henry – who might be best known for the small screen’s “The Tudors – worried about taking over a role last played on the big screen by Brandon Routh?

“I don’t know about nervous. I don’t know how to feel to be honest. I’m just gonna wait and see. And it’s one of those things where, I’ll ride the wave and roll with the punches if they come,” he told Access.
