Marion Cotillard Honored, ‘Stabbed’ During French Awards Ceremony

Some Oscar winners just can’t catch a break.

During a ceremony in France on Monday, French actress Marion Cotillard was honored as a member of the Order of Arts and Letters – and accidentally stabbed in the chest with her honorary medallion.

France’s culture minister Frederic Mitterand was attaching the pin to her blouse, when the needle jabbed the “La Vie en Rose” beauty in the torso, causing both the actress and the minister to gasp in front of the crowd.

However, the pain seemed to be short-lived as both Cotillard and Mitterand broke into laughter on stage.

Prior to the inadvertent jab, Mitterand praised the actress for her “charm, natural grace and beauty.”

“Alice in Wonderland” director Tim Burton was also honored during the ceremony – however, he escaped without injury.

Cotillard, who took home the Oscar for Best Actress in 2008, has since starred in such films as “Public Enemies” with Johnny Depp and Rob Marshall’s “Nine.”
