“Law & Order” fans have long wondered if the chemistry between “SVU” stars Mariska Hargitay and Christopher Meloni would ever extend beyond the precinct.
Come May sweeps – they’re getting married! Sort of.
“Law & Order: SVU” executive producer Neal Baer told Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello that their characters of Olivia Benson and Elliot Stable will play husband and wife on a case this season.
“They’re going undercover as a married couple adopting a baby,” Baer said.
Will the two share an on-screen kiss?
“You’ll have to wait and see,” a coy Baer said. “But there’s certainly emotion shown between them because they’re [supposed] to be married.”
The episode will air May 5.
In February, Baer debunked a report which suggested Meloni wouldn’t be around for the show’s upcoming twelfth season.
