Mariska Hargitay Returns To ‘Law & Order: SVU’

Mariska Hargitay has returned to the set of “Law & Order: SVU” for the first time since she suffered a collapsed lung earlier this month.

A rep for the star confirmed to Access Hollywood that Mariska, who plays Detective Olivia Benson, was back on the set of the drama, earlier today.

A driver for the actress told RadarOnline, which first reported the story, the actress was spending all day on set.

“She’s in there shooting and she’s going to be in there late tonight,” the driver told the Web site.

A “Welcome Back” bouquet was also reportedly delivered to the set.

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, earlier this month Mariska was “sidelined with a pneumothorax (a partially collapsed lung),” according to her rep.

At the time, her rep said that despite the injury, Mariska was expected to finish filming the rest of the episodes in this season’s “Law & Order: SVU.”

According to WebMD, pneumothorax occurs as a result of the “buildup of air in the space between the lung and the chest wall.”

It is often caused by a chest injury like a puncture wound or broken rib, but can occur without injury.

Treatment can include oxygen and observation by a doctor, while serious cases can require surgery.
