Mark Wahlberg Talks Reality Show & Transformers 4: ‘It’s Very Different & Fresh’

Mark Wahlberg took up the “Transformers” mantle from Shia LaBeouf for “Transformers: Age of Extinction,” and the actor says the upcoming installment of the alien robot action movie will vary greatly from the previous three.

“It’s a completely different stand-alone movie,” Mark told Access Hollywood of fourth “Transformers” film, at the premiere of his new Navy SEAL film, “Lone Survivor.” “It takes place after the third one, after the battle of Chicago. It’s definitely its own story.”

Though “Age of Extinction” is also helmed by Michael Bay (like the previous three “Transformers” movies), Mark said he’s confident audiences will notice the differences – and be pleasantly surprised.

“I think it’s very different and fresh and people are going to really enjoy it. I had a blast making it,” he said. “And you’re going to see things in this particular movie that you haven’t seen in the other movies.”

In addition to his film roles, Mark is dabbling in a new field – reality TV. The 42-year-old and his famous brother, Donnie Wahlberg, are co-executive producing a new show, “Wahlburgers,” for A&E.

“It’s a docuseries following us building our family business, along with my brother and my mom,” Mark said of the show, which will mainly feature his brother, Paul Wahlberg, and Alma Elaine Wahlberg. “They’re the real stars of the show. But we’re trying to drive and grow the business.

“My brother is an amazingly talented chef and it’s going to be awesome,” he added. “We’ve already shot a bunch of it and it’s really cool.”

“Wahlburgers” will premiere at 10:30 PM on January 22, 2014.

“Lone Survivor,” which also stars Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Ludwig and Emile Hirsch, hits theaters on January 10, 2014.
