This calls for a “like” – and maybe a tissue.
Facebook co-founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg and his wife, Priscilla Chan, are expecting their first child, a girl.
The social media titan shared the news on – where else? – his Facebook page on Friday, and expressed gratitude and excitement before revealing more personal details on his and Cilla’s efforts to start a family.

“This will be a new chapter in our lives,” Mark began. “We’ve already been so fortunate for the opportunity to touch people’s lives around the world — Cilla as a doctor and educator, and me through this community and philanthropy. Now we’ll focus on making the world a better place for our child and the next generation.”
The tech magnate went on to discuss the fertility difficulties he and Cilla have had in the past, and said they decided to go public with their story to try and “give more people the same hope we felt.”

“We’ve been trying to have a child for a couple of years and have had three miscarriages along the way,” Mark said in his emotional post.
“Most people don’t discuss miscarriages because you worry your problems will distance you or reflect upon you — as if you’re defective or did something to cause this,” he added. “So you struggle on your own. In today’s open and connected world, discussing these issues doesn’t distance us; it brings us together. It creates understanding and tolerance, and it gives us hope.”
Mark continued, assuring readers that Cilla’s pregnancy is “now far enough along that the risk of loss is very low,” and even said that he and his daughter already share a special bond.
“In our ultrasound, she even gave me a thumbs up ‘like’ with her hand, so I’m already convinced she takes after me,” he joked.

Mark, 31, and Priscilla, 30, married in 2012 and are already pet parents to a Hungarian sheepdog, Beast, whom they included in the photo alongside their announcement. As for their pup’s reaction to the family’s new addition, Mark said Beast “has no idea what’s coming.”
