Martha Stewart Is A First Time Grandmother

Congratulations are in order for Martha Stewart – the domestic diva is now a grandma.

Martha’s daughter, Alexis, welcomed a baby girl, Jude, via surrogate on Tuesday.

Alexis, 45, chose to utilize a gestational carrier after failing to get pregnant using fertility treatments, according to The New York Post.

Martha is excited about the new family addition, telling the paper, “I am just thrilled that Alexis’ greatest wish has been fulfilled.”

The 69-year-old crafting mogul also announced the happy news on her TV show.

“At… 12:58 AM on March 8, little baby Jude, my first grandchild, was born,” Martha said on Friday’s episode of “The Martha Stewart Show. ” “It’s very exciting and Alexis and the baby are doing very well. They’re home in New York in their apartment and I stopped in last night after a business trip and I got to see her when she was about 36 hours old.

“She is very alert and doesn’t cry. Ideal baby — I’m happy for Alexis that she doesn’t cry,” Martha continued. “And she is eating well and doing all her natural things well and she’s cute and she has Lexie’s pouty little mouth. Very, very lovely child. Good luck baby Jude and good luck Alexis. You’re on to the next phase of your lifem — motherhood.”

Martha isn’t going to take on the title of “Grandma” at the request of her daughter.

“Martha is going to be called, ‘Martha,’” Alexis announced Thursday night on her SiriusXM satellite radio show, “Whatever with Alexis & Jennifer.” “She seemed to have no problem with it. … I was like, ‘Do you really want to be ‘grandma’? I don’t like the term grandma!”
