Matt Damon: Ben Affleck Will Be A ‘Terrific’ Batman, I Won’t Be Robin

Matt Damon isn’t worried about how his buddy, Ben Affleck, will fare as Batman.

“I think it will be great. It will be terrific,” Matt reportedly told Times of India. “I know there are a lot of people grousing on the internet.

“I just think it’s kind of funny – you know, he’s not playing King Lear. It’s Batman. Certainly within his skill set!” he added.

Matt praised his “Good Will Hunting” co-star’s hard work and consequent acting growth in recent years.

“If anybody saw ‘Argo’ or ‘The Town,’ and all the work he’s been doing lately, it’s way more nuanced and interesting and way more difficult than Batman!” Matt said. “Batman just sits there with his cowl over his head and whispers in a kinda gruff voice at people.”

Adding, “Bruce Wayne is the more challenging part of the role, and Ben will be great at that.”

The “Elysium” star, 42, also laughed off reports he may suit up alongside 41-year-old Ben in the upcoming superhero film as Robin.

“I am a little older than Ben. I never saw Robin as older than Batman,” Matt said, adding that he has seen the photoshopped image making the rounds on the Internet featuring his head on Robin’s body, with Ben’s on Batman’s body. “It was really funny. But it’s safe to say I won’t be Robin.”

The “Man of Steel” sequel, featuring Ben as the Caped Crusader, is set to hit theaters on July 17, 2015.
