Matthew McConaughey Injured While Training For Fighter Film

Matthew McConaughey was in stitches — literally — after training for his upcoming fighter film.

The 38-year-old actor cut his face while preparing for his role in “The Grackle,” a new movie from his J.K. Livin Productions, his publicist, Alan Nierob, said Monday in an e-mail.

Nierob said McConaughey had been training Ultimate Fighting Championship-style. He did not know when and where the injury occurred.

Photos posted Monday on celebrity gossip Web site X17 show McConaughey wearing a bandage over his left eye while riding in the passenger seat of a car.

According to the site, the shots were snapped last week after he delivered a eulogy at a funeral service for the late daredevil Evel Knievel.

McConaughey’s screen credits include “Failure to Launch,” “We Are Marshall” and “A Time to Kill.” He’ll next be seen in the comedy “Fool’s Gold,” co-starring Kate Hudson.
