Matthew McConaughey Reacts To Reese Witherspoon’s Arrest

Matthew McConaughey thinks “Mud” co-star Reese Witherspoon handled her recent arrest just fine.

Access Hollywood spoke to the actor about Witherspoon’s weekend arrest for disorderly conduct, at the junket for his latest movie, which the actress was also due to appear at, but pulled out following her brush with the law.

“I’m happy to see that she seems to be the kind of woman that would do just what she did,” Matthew told Access.

Adding, “Come out and be forthright about [it]. Look at it in the eye and be forthright.”

Following her arrest, where the Oscar winner and husband Jim Toth were stopped in Atlanta and Toth was charged for an alleged DUI, the 37-year-old apologized.

“Out of respect for the ongoing legal situation, I cannot comment on everything that is being reported right now. But I do want to say, I clearly had one drink too many and I am deeply embarrassed about the things I said,” Witherspoon said in a statement to Access.

“It was definitely a scary situation and I was frightened for my husband, but that is no excuse. I was disrespectful to the officer who was just doing his job. I have nothing but respect for the police and I’m very sorry for my behavior.”
