Matthew McConaughey Responds To Liza Minnelli’s Oscar Offer

Matthew McConaughey’s performance in “Dallas Buyers Club” moved Liza Minnelli so much that she’s said she’ll give the actor her Oscar award, if he doesn’t win one himself come the March 2 awards show.

Access Hollywood caught up with the actor on Thursday while he was promoting his upcoming HBO series “True Detective,” where he weighed in on Liza’s generous offer.

“[She was] just raving about how much she loved ‘Dallas Buyers Club’ and all the performances in it. She said she’s seen it eight times,” he told Access.

“She said it keeps sticking with her. So to hear that the film and the performances are resonating and sticking with people to that extent and making them feel like they want to come out and say [something about the movie] unsolicited,” he continued. “I want to lead a parade about this film and these performances. I’m real thankful for that.”

Earlier this week, at a New York luncheon with Academy voters, Liza offered up her 1973 Oscar for her role in “Cabaret” to Matthew.

“I haven’t seen a movie like that in so long, and I’m so proud to be able to tell everybody. And honey,” she said addressing the actor. “If you don’t win the Academy Award, I’m giving you mine!”
