“Law & Order” earned a special present for its 20th anniversary this week.
New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg declared Wednesday, September 23, “Law & Order Day” in the city, according to Wenn.
However, the stars of the long-running NBC series didn’t get any special treats on their big day.
“It’s big and I’m not sure what it means for us as a holiday, but since we are all police officers on the show we get free doughnuts for the day across the city every September 23rd,” Anthony Anderson, who plays Detective Kevin Bernard, joked to the wire service. “No, no. It’s just a piece of paper.”
The current cast reportedly reunited with several “L&O” alumni, including Angie Harmon and Benjamin Bratt, at a party for the anniversary earlier this week.
“There was a load of old cast members there,” Anthony said. “Some I didn’t know. But while I was there, I realized why it’s been so successful for 20 years, it’s because of the love that was there, it was like a family reunion.”
