Mel B Takes ‘Dancing’ To The Maks & Helio Heats Things Up

Spice Girl Mel B and racecar driver Helio Castroneves once again trumped their competition on “Dancing with the Stars,” paving the way for what looks to be a major showdown next week.

If the votes match Monday night’s judges scores, Mel B and Helio, who both netted two perfect 30s for their dances, “Dancing with the Stars” may be moving toward its most exciting showdown yet.

Despite her busy Spice Girls tour rehearsals, Mel B brought drama and passion to the ballroom for her first dance, the Viennese waltz with partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

“This was a Viennese waltz driven to maximum impact,” the always vocal judge Bruno Tonioli told the couple following their number. “The Ferrari of Viennese!”

“It gave me chills as soon as you came out here,” judge Carrie Ann Inaba added. “You just constantly come back and keep surprising me.”

Though the couple quickly took the lead with a perfect 30 over the first couple on the floor — Marie Osmond and Jonathan Roberts, who netted 29, Helio Castroneves and his partner Julianne Hough didn’t give an inch.

Following Jennie Garth and Derek Hough’s 28 scoring tango, Helio and Julianne stormed the ballroom with a fantastic foxtrot.

“The technique is down [and] now you’ve put this incredible polish on it,” Carrie Ann said. “Mindblowing!”

The perfect score meant Mel and Maksim had to give it their all for the Latin round but it was Marie Osmond who stepped up to the challenge first. Marie quickly charmed the crowd with partner Jonathan, mamboing into her brothers’ laps at the end of her number, much to the judges’ delight.

“That was the most visibly madcap mambo I’ve ever seen,” Bruno said. “Frenetic! Incredible! Entertaining as usual.”

The judges may have enjoyed the spirit, but their scores were harsher for round two as Marie netted just 27.

Next, Mel and Maksim quickly took to the floor to prove they were finals material. Their Paso doble started out dramatically as Mel took out a whip during the intro to the Rolling Stones classic, “I Can’t Get No (Satisfaction).”

“I didn’t know you could work a whip like that Miss Thing,” Carrie Ann commented.

“What can I say, it’s Mel B, satisfaction guaranteed,” Bruno commented as the duo were given another perfect score.

Jennie then stepped up her cha cha with partner Derek.

“Yummy Jennie,” Bruno exclaimed. “You’ve done it! You’ve got the star power.”

The blonde duo netted a 30 of their own, but they were quickly overshadowed as Helio and Julianne took to the floor. Cha cha-ing to “Rollercoaster,” the twosome grabbed another 30 and some monumental words from judge Len Goodman.

“You are the stand out couple for me tonight,” he exclaimed.
