Mel B. Taking Eddie Murphy To Court Over Paternity Test

NEW YORK (May 2, 2007) — Melanie Brown wants Eddie Murphy to take a paternity test, and she’s taking him to court to get it.

The former Spice Girl, who gave birth to daughter Angel Iris Murphy Brown last month, has long maintained Murphy is the baby’s father.

During an interview with Access Hollywood on Tuesday night at the U.S. launch party for BOOTS cosmetics brand in Hollywood, Mel B. said she has yet to hear from Murphy and she expects him to take responsibility as the father.

“He won’t do a DNA test and he won’t sign the birth certificate so now we’re having to go through lawyers because he won’t do either,” she told Access.

“It’s going to have to go to court so he can be forced to do it, which is strange since he was the one asking for it,” she told People magazine at the BOOTS event.

In fact, it was Melanie’s first night away from baby, and while she was enjoying her night out, she was eager to get back to her baby.

“I’m pining for her as we speak,” she added.

Melanie, 31, also has an 8-year-old daughter, Phoenix, from a previous marriage.

Murphy has five children from his marriage to Nicole Mitchell Murphy.
