Melissa Etheridge Talks Walk Of Fame Honor, Her Kids’ Musical Inclinations

Melissa Etheridge is blown away by the fact that she will have her own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame next year.

“The [Walk] of Fame thing, it still blows my mind,” the rocker told Access Hollywood earlier this week as she performed at NYC’s Hard Rock Cafe for the Grammy Artist Revealed series. “I am trying to let that sink in, because that’s one of those big things… it’s really intense and I still haven’t let it sink in.”

Melissa said the impending honor has made her think about how long she has been in the business.

“I have been doing this 20 years,” she said. “I think that’s what has to sink in more than anything else.”

In related news, Melissa is set to tour the globe this summer in support of her new album, “Fearless Love,” and she’ll be bringing her teenage children with her on the road.

“They love their little bunk on the bus, the love so much about it,” she said of two eldest children with ex, Julie Cypher. Her children with Tammy Lynn Michaels are too young and stay at home, she said.

Melissa revealed that her older children are musically inclined and she wouldn’t be opposed if they decided to pursue music as a career.

“They know [what show business is like]. They’ve seen behind the scenes. They know there’s no little magic, ‘Oh, everything’s great if you’re a celebrity or famous or have money.’ They know that there’s a lot of work,” she explained. “They see the work that I do, so they don’t have any fantasies about the music business. If they were to love music and want to do it and play it, I would encourage that.”
