Talk about a proper send off!
As ?The View? says goodbye to Meredith Vieira, it was a morning of kissing, laughing and tears.
Access Hollywood?s Tim Vincent was on the set to capture the momentous farewell.
?Enjoy the show and thank you everyone for nine wonderful years,? Meredith said to her ?View? co-hosts.
As a champagne toast closed the show, the tears began to flow as Meredith bid adieu to Barbara, Star, Elizabeth and Joy.
Tim spoke with Meredith shortly after the show wrapped.
?How are you feeling?? Tim asked.
?I feel good. I?ve been shedding some tears, but they are tears of joy,? Meredith said. ?These are some of the most wonderful people and I?m going to miss them.?
Meredith had told Access she wanted her last day to be full of laughs, and what better way to make that happen than with a celebrity roast.
?The thing about a roast is you have to truly love someone to roast them,? Barbara Walterstold us. ?Only Meredith would have her last day on the show making fun of herself.?
And watching it all ? from the raunchy to the ridiculous ? was Meredith?s family, as her husband of20 years, Richard, and their three kids were in the audience.
In fact, it was Meredith?s 17-year-old son Ben who really rallied for mom to take the job at NBC?s ?Today? show. But were there ulterior motives?
?I want to work at the Olympics. I want a job. I can speak Chinese and it?s in China so I figure there?s a job,? he laughed.
And on her last day at ?The View,? Meredith, who previously exposed her no-panties policy, also had a ?brief? announcement.
?I will be wearing underwear on ?Today,?? she said, jokingly pulling out a pair of bloomers with her ?View? co-stars faces on them.
?Will you be wearing those knickers on your first day?? Tim asked her.
?I just might do that. Than I will be sitting on those b*****s the whole day,? she laughed.
Meredith will debut on ?Today? in September.
