Michael Bolton Talks ‘Dancing’ For The First Time

As an international singing sensation, Michael Bolton knows certainly knows where the beat is, but his feet? Well, they’re another story.

Michael, who hits the ballroom on Monday in front of an audience of millions on “Dancing with the Stars” Season 11, revealed to Access Hollywood that he’s spent his life avoiding making moves with his feet.

“Every time we did a video, we’d have somebody organizing, we’d have a choreographer step up and try to work with me, but once I started singing, I couldn’t think about anything else but singing,” Michael said of his big voice, pipes that took over his body. “So I said, ‘Good luck with the video, but I’m doing what I do.’ I’ve never been able to integrate.”

Michael, who is dancing with Chelsie Hightower this season, said now that it’s all about his feet, he’s working hard to make it in the ballroom, without thinking about it being a competition.

“I’m not anywhere near thinking about the other people dancing because you know, you have a few weeks to learn something you’ve spent your lifetime avoiding,” he said. “Competition — that is between you and yourself and I have a great teacher, so I put a lot of faith in her and I do the work. The competition, we’ll look on that further on down the road.”

When they hit the ballroom on Monday, the “Soul Provider” and Chelsie will be performing the Viennese Waltz, but they aren’t quite ready just yet.

“We have a lot more work to do but we are an amazing team,” Michael said.

Michael isn’t expecting to sail through the competition because of his superstar status, but he’s hoping his fans watch and vote.

“I don’t take anything for granted I just hope they all call or text,” he said.
