Michelle Fairley Jumps From Game Of Thrones To USA’s Suits, New BBC Drama: ‘I’m Very Fortunate’

Michelle Fairley is the second “Game of Thrones” cast member to join the cast of “Suits.”

The actress is set to appear on screen, in a recurring role, alongside Conleth Hill (Lord Varys) in Season 3 of the USA series. Michelle will also have scenes alongside “Suits” star Gabriel Macht, who plays lawyer Harvey Spector.

A rep for USA told AccessHollywood.com that Michelle is playing Ava Hessington, “a British entrepreneur who runs a successful international oil company.”

“Faced with a lawsuit that may cost her the family business, she puts her trust in Harvey Specter to fight the charges against her,” the rep added.

Michelle said in an HBO Connect chat on Monday that she was having a blast on set (although the transcription called the show, which films in Toronto, Canada, “Seats”).

“[I’ve] been doing what any actor loves to do which is work! In the moment, I’m doing a filming job in Toronto in a series called ‘Seats,’ which I’m loving. It’s extremely different to ‘Game of Thrones,’ …I’m loving being in Toronto, it’s a brilliant city,” she said in the online chat.

Gabriel hinted to Digital Spy recently that his character isn’t too pleased with any of the UK imports. (The firm owned by Conleth’s Edward Darby character merged with Harvey’s firm, much to Harvey’s disgust, in Season 2).

“We’ve got some terrific actors — Conleth Hill and Michelle Fairley and Max Beesley are on board — and we’re having a great time on set with all of them. But Harvey is fully against this merger — he wants out,” Gabriel told DigitalSpy.com in an interview published in mid-May.

“I’ll give you a tiny little spoiler — Harvey doesn’t want to be involved with any of them, so you’re going to see him make a play. He is enraged with how Jessica has gone behind his back, he’s completely cut Mike off and he’s ready to high-tail [it] out of there,” he added.

Michelle, whose “GOT” character, Catelyn Stark, was murdered on Sunday’s “Game of Thrones” at the infamous Red Wedding, also has several other projects in the works, she told AccessHollywood.com.

“When I finished [shooting ‘Game of Thrones’] in November, I already had another job to go on to, and then I did another two in England at the beginning of the year, one in Serbia and I’m filming Canada at the moment as well,” Michelle told Access. “And I’m also doing a BBC Jimmy McGovern script in Liverpool as well called ‘Common,’ so I’m very fortunate in that I’ve got some wonderful work.”

“Common” will find Michelle playing the mother of a young man accused, along with several of his friends, of a murder in a case that tries them all equally for the crime, despite one of them only being in a car when the incident takes place.

“Suits” premieres Tuesday, July 16 at 10/9c on USA.
