Michelle Rodriguez Talks Fast & Furious 6 Fight Scenes With Gina Carano & Taking A Break From Acting

Michelle Rodriguez and Gina Carano throw down in a couple of violent hand-to-hand fight scenes in “Fast & Furious 6.”

Despite Gina’s MMA fighter history, Michelle says she was much more worried about their fights being gritty and authentic for the fans (and representing strong women!) than any potential injuries.

“It’s an action movie and I have so much responsibility just being a girl, like, in this lane of tomboyishness. I have to represent, [I said], ‘We have to make this real,’” Michelle told Access Hollywood’s Scott Mantz, at the film’s junket in London. “I don’t mind getting the crap beat out of me, as long as it’s believable. For me, that comes first and foremost in the whole thing.”

The actress said she was so committed to bringing her all to the brawls that she repeatedly pestered director Justin Lin about how the scenes looked on camera.

“I was so nervous! I kept bugging Justin, [saying], ‘Are you sure? Are you sure it’s awesome enough?’” she said. “Like really – this is a big responsibility.”

In a recent interview with Cosmo Latina, Michelle, 34, revealed she’d been waiting for over a decade to be able to focus on her dream job in Hollywood (writing), and would soon take a break from acting to pursue her dream of becoming a scribe.

However, it looks like those plans are once again on hold.

“It’s not going to happen now that we’re working on ‘Fast 7’!” Michelle said, when asked if she’d be stepping away from the camera for a bit.

“Fast & Furious 6” hits theaters on May 24.

A seventh installment of the franchise is slated for release on July 11, 2014.
