Mindy McCready’s Mother Confirms Daughter’s Hospitalization

Country singer Mindy McCready has been hospitalized, the singer’s mother, Gayle Inge, told Access Hollywood on Tuesday.

Access spoke to Gayle on Tuesday morning just before she was headed to see her daughter at the Cape Coral Hospital in Cape Coral, Fla.

According to Gayle, her daughter broke her toe on Saturday night and she gave Mindy pain pills for the injury.

Gayle went on to say that this morning, Mindy appeared disoriented. The singer’s mother said she was already taking other medication and she grew worried and called 911 after Mindy would not answer when questioned.

A rep for the singer confirmed the hospitalization to Access in a statement saying, “It was confirmed by Ms. McCready’s Ft. Myers, Fla. attorney that Mindy was taken to the Cape Coral Hospital this morning. The diagnosis has not yet been confirmed. The family asks for your respect of their privacy and appreciates your thoughts and prayers at this time.”

A Lee County Sheriff’s Office rep confirmed to Access that they were dispatched to Gayle’s home in North Fort Myers, Fla., at 10:38 AM. They said a person was transported to a hospital, but would not elaborate further on the details.

TMZ reported that the country star might have overdosed.

Gayle told Access that her daughter is stable.

As previously reported on Access Hollywood.com, the singer, who has battled addiction and a series of personal issues over the years, in April about her stint on “Celebrity Rehab,” with Dr. Drew.

“Dr. Drew in giving me a diagnosis, diagnosed me as a person who has co-dependency. The new age term is a ‘love addict,’” she told Access at the time. “It leads you into the wrong relationships and you go from one horrible relationship to another. Then I started drinking too much.”

In December 2008, the singer was hospitalized after cutting her wrists and taking several pills.
