We almost just stress-ate all of the office kitchen carbs over this news: Joseph Gordon-Levitt will play Mindy Lahiri’s husband on “The Mindy Project.”
Luckily, we were able to calm down mid-pound cake inhalation thanks to Buzzfeed, which shared details about JGL’s new role (hint: it does not mean the end of Mindy and our beloved Danny Castellano, played by Chris Messina).
Joseph will star as Mindy’s husband in the Season 4 premiere, which will feature an alternate reality storyline –a nod to 1998’s “Sliding Doors” movie, according to the website.
In the parallel universe, the “Inception” star will play a “suave reality show producer for Bravo,” a perfect spouse for pop culture obsessed Mindy.
As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, Fox canceled “The Mindy Project” in May, but the Mindy Kaling-led series was quickly picked up by Hulu.
26 new episodes of the comedy will premiere on the streaming service later this year.
