Mommy-To-Be Jewel Shares Her Valentine’s Day Trick To Keeping Love Alive

There’s no such thing as the seven-year itch for Jewel and her husband, Ty Murray.

The singer-songwriter married her rodeo star husband in 2008 – after dating each other for 10 years – and Jewel says the couple’s Valentine’s Day tradition helps to keep their love alive.

“We always exchange letters — it’s sort of our thing,” Jewel told Access Hollywood of her Valentine’s Day plans, at the MusiCares Tribute to Barbra Streisand in Los Angeles on Friday. “It’s just like our little tradition. We always write love letters and I just think it’s nice to get a love letter.

“We’ve been together for 12 years,” she added. “So, it’s nice to still get them.”

Monday will be an even more special day for the “Foolish Games” singer, as it is her first Valentine’s Day as an expectant mother!

“The pregnancy’s going good — I’ve had an easy go of it,” Jewel told Access. “It’s a boy.”

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, in January, Jewel told People she found out she was expecting on her first day at work on her new Bravo reality series with former “American Idol” judge Kara DioGuardi, “Going Platinum.”

“I took a pregnancy test and it was positive!” the 36-year-old singer told the mag at the time. “It was so hard to keep it a secret. I was worried I’d start throwing up on set and everyone would be like, ‘Oh, she’s pregnant.’”

Ty and Jewel had been trying to conceive for two years.

“I have always been a workaholic, so I had to learn how to slow down and take care of myself in a different way,” Jewel explained.

In addition to her new Bravo series, Jewel is reportedly hard at work on her second children’s album and she says that the couple is also in the midst of turning a guest room on their 2,200-acre Texas ranch into a nursery for the baby.
