Mother’s Day DIY Kid-Friendly Crafts

Mother’s Day is Sunday! And most moms will agree, nothing tugs at the hearts strings more than a hand-made gift from their little one.

Joy Cho, author of “Oh Joy!,” stopped Access Hollywood Live with adorable kid-friendly crafts.

Mini Photo Block Puzzle

Material Needed:

  • A square photo
  • 9 1-inch wooden blocks
  • Clear Gesso

Print photos so that you have a 3 x 3-inch image area. Cut the photo into 9 1-inch square pieces. Brush gesso on one side of block, then brush gesso on back of one photo section and set it in place on the block. Repeat with the other eight blocks. Let set for 24 hours.

Surprise Scratchers

Material Needed:

  • Cardstock
  • Scissors
  • Paint brush
  • Clear packing tape
  • Dish soap
  • Acrylic paint (preferably gold)

Print out cardstock. Cover the scratch-off side with tape=strips placed side by side to cover the whole surface. Mix one part soap dish and two parts paint. Paint on the scratch off side. Let dry.

Bloom In A Box

Material Needed:

  • Colorful cardstock
  • Mesh tubing
  • Contact Paper
  • Flower Punch
  • Small gift box
  • Superglue

Using a template cut flowers out of cardstock. Punch out the center of the flowers from contact paper. Glue the centers into the flowers. Cut the mesh into stems of your desired length. Cut cardstock to fit inside of box. Punch holes where you would like flowers to be placed. Cut out leaves from contact paper and glue them onto stems. Place the flowers within holes of the cardstock til you’ve filled it to the desired amount.

Puff Vases

Material Needed:

  • Foam letters & shapes
  • Glass mug or cup
  • Primer
  • Spray paint

Wash and dry the glass. Place the foam shapes or letters on the glass wherever you like. You can make a pattern or word or shape. Paint the whole cup with 1 coat of primer. Dry. Paint the whole cup with 1 coat of spray paint. Dry.

Baby Shoe-rarium

Material Needed:

  • Baby shoes
  • Mini decorations
  • Plexiglass box with lid
  • Mini words or letters
  • Faux grass

Find a box that will fit your baby shoes with enough space around them for some tiny decorations. Cut faux grass to fit bottom of box. Set the grass on a work surface and set the shoes where you want them to be placed. Place the mini decorations around the shoes. Secure the shoes and decorations with super glue. Add a letter or name if you choose.
