MTV Moving Forward With ‘Teen Wolf’ Series

Move over vampires – MTV is all about the werewolves.

The pilot for a “Teen Wolf” series, based on the classic 1985 film starring Michael J/ Fox, are moving forward, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

But while the movie was very much a PG-rated storyline, with Fox playing an everyday high school student who finds out he’s a werewolf, the new MTV series sounds like it will be a bit darker.

“It has a fresh take and is very different from the original,” MTV Senior Vice President Liz Gateley said. “It has more of an ‘American Werewolf in Paris’ feel to it.”

Although Fox was the star of the film, the series will focus on two main characters.

“It’s a dramatic thriller with two best friends who provide a great comedy element: They are two very relatable characters on the outer circles of popular cliques,” Gateley added.

The new series will be written by “Criminal Minds” creator Jeff Davis.

There’s no word yet on a possible start date for the new show.
