MTV Pulls Punch Footage From ‘Jersey Shore’ Episode

A violent scene from an upcoming episode of MTV’s controversial reality show, “Jersey Shore,” will not hit the airwaves next week, according to E! Online.

The scene, which depicts “Shore” star Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi being punched in the face at a bar, was included in a promo for the episode and went viral earlier this week.

“What happened to Snooki was a crime and obviously extremely disturbing,” MTV reps told the site in a statement. “After hearing from our viewers, further consulting with experts on the issue of violence, and seeing how the video footage has been taken out of context not to show the severity of this act or resulting consequences, MTV has decided not to air Snooki being physically punched in the face.”

As previously reported on AccessHollywood.com, the punch was reportedly thrown by Brad Ferro, who is not a cast member on the show.

He was reportedly found guilty of assault, fined $500 and given a six month suspended jail sentence following the August 19 incident.

MTV previously said the network would run a public service announcement about violence during the episode, which E! Online reported will still appear.

“Jersey Shore” airs Thursdays at 10 PM.
