Natalie Dormer On Her Blossoming Career & What’s Ahead On ‘Game Of Thrones’ Season 5

“Game of Thrones” star Natalie Dormer was named one of People’s Ones To Watch, and she celebrated at a soiree for entertainment’s rising stars on Thursday night.

“The last couple of years have been – they’ve been racked up a gear. I’ve been working a lot, which has been fantastic — working with a lot of incredible, professional people, so, you know, it’s been a whirlwind two years and I’m really looking forward to what the next couple have in store,” Natalie told Access Hollywood at People’s Ones To Watch party at The Line Hotel in Los Angeles.

In addition to roles in big budget projects like “Rush,” Natalie is a part of three ongoing franchises – HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay” and CBS’ “Elementary.”

“I’m very lucky with all the projects I’m in that the fan base is so amazingly dedicated and strong,” she said. “The fandoms of ‘Game of Thrones,’ ‘Hunger Games’ [and] ‘Elementary’ alone — those three projects, I’m just — I’m blessed. I totally am, and to do these other great movies that I do as well, to add to that equation — I’m grateful,” Natalie said. “It’s a beautiful moment at the moment. I’m aiming for the horizon. Got my head down, trying to work hard and sleep.”

As for “Thrones,” where Natalie plays Margaery Tyrell, the actress revealed they are “midway through” filming Season 5.

Asked if another wedding is in the cards, Natalie joked, “What do they say, third time lucky? Is Margaery gonna be third time lucky? Poor girl, she needs a break.”

Season 5 should see a lot of interaction between Margaery and Lena Headey’s Cersei Lannister, and while there is friction between the pair on-screen, off-screen the two are close.

“I love Lena so much and we have so much fun where we’re being really horrible to each other and as soon as the camera turns off, we just have to stop ourselves bursting out laughing a lot of the time,” she said.

In the Season 4 finale, Tyrion Lannister murdered his father, Hand of the King, Tywin Lannister, and Natalie teased what fans will see in King’s Landing when the show returns in 2015.

“It’s definitely gone in a new direction, without giving anything away to people who don’t know the books and don’t want spoilers,” she said. “There’s a kind of coup that happens within the capitol, so one more dynamic to the ever-turning madness that is the power play of ‘Game of Thrones.'”

While Tywin may be gone, certain interactions in Season 4 had some fans wondering if Lady Olenna and the elder Lannister were romantically linked way back when, so we asked Natalie for her thoughts.

“Is that your theory? You have a theory that Olenna and Tywin had a little bit of a dalliance? Well, I don’t know if you saw pictures of what Diana Rigg looked like when she was younger, and then what Lady Olenna looked like when she was younger — anything is possible,” she smiled.

“Game of Thrones” returns in 2015. “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay — Part 1” hits theaters on Novemebr 21.
