It was a year to remember for Neil Patrick Harris – both personally and professionally — in 2014. However, the year is ending on a sad note for the actor.
The star has revealed his grandmother, Martha Jeanne Harris, died on Christmas night.

“My grandma passed away on Thursday night, services are today. Martha Jeanne Harris was 92, lived a long, lovely life. We shared a birthday, 6/15. She’ll be missed,” Harris wrote in an Instagram post on December 30, along with a photo of his beloved grandma.
Prior to his grandmother’s death, NPH posted a photo of his 4-year-old twins, Gideon and Harper, enjoying Christmas Eve dinner.
In October, it was announced the TV/movie/Broadway star would serve as host of the upcoming 87th annual Academy Awards, airing February 22.
NPH also became a married man in 2014, as he and longtime partner David Burtka tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Italy in September.
Earlier in the year, the star’s long-running TV series, “How I Met Your Mother” signed off after a successful nine-season run.
