‘Nevermind’ — R-Pattz Won’t Play Cobain In Biopic

Robert Pattinson won’t be playing Kurt Cobain in a planned biopic, contrary to tabloid reports, Access Hollywood has learned.

A rep for “The Twilight Saga” star told Access that the report, which surfaced this week on the U.K.’s Sun, was false.

Instead, following this summer’s “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” R-Pattz will bite into the period drama “Bel Ami,” the Western “Unbound Captives” and the circus-themed “Water for Elephants” – in addition to the final “Twilight Saga” installment, “Breaking Dawn,” which is still yet to be officially announced.

“Breaking Dawn” has been heavily rumored to be split into two films a la “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows,” though Summit Entertainment has not commented on such reports.

Despite the false casting news, a biopic of Cobain, the Nirvana rocker who brought grunge into the mainstream before taking his own life, is indeed in the early stages of production. The Hollywood Reporter previously reported that “The Messenger” director Oren Moverman would helm the picture, from a script by “Brothers” writer David Benioff.
