New Girl: Meet The New Faces For Season 2

Zooey Deschanel’s “New Girl” is adding some new faces for Season 2.

David Walton – previously of NBC’s “Perfect Couples” and more recently “Bent” – will join the cast as a new love interest for Zooey’s lead character, Jess, FOX has confirmed to Access Hollywood.

The actor will make his debut in the season premiere as a “classic bad boy type” that Jess falls for after a case of mistaken identity.

Also joining the cast is big screen comedic beauty Leslie Mann (aka Mrs. Judd Apatow, whose film credits include “Knocked Up,” “The 40-Year-Old Virgin,” “Big Daddy”) as a “short girl” hired by Schmidt (Max Greenfield) to work at one of his parties.

In addition, former “Reno 911!” star and “Dancing with the Stars” contestant Niecy Nash will also be making a guest appearance in the upcoming season, as someone who steals Jess’ purse.

While Walton’s character will be recurring, it sounds like Nash and Mann’s roles will just be one-episode arcs.

It will be a big season for Jess and the boys on the FOX series, especially following last week’s Emmy nominations, including individual nods for Max and Zooey.

“I was asleep, I didn’t want to assume anything, [but] I had my ringer on my phone, just in case,” Zooey, who was nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, told Access Hollywood Live of where she was when news of her nomination broke. “I’m very excited to get to work with such amazing people… I’m just so lucky to get to work with them every day.”

Max, meanwhile, didn’t take the news with the same subdued demeanor.

“[It was] a barrage of screaming and yelling and crying, and then I thought, ‘This might be real,’” he joked of his Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series nod.
