Nicki Minaj To Produce & Appear In Autobiographical Sitcom

ABC Family, what’s GOOD?! (Anyone? No?)

Nicki Minaj is set to executive produce and appear in a sitcom for ABC Family, the network announced on Tuesday.

The series will be based on the “Feelin’ Myself” rapper’s childhood in Queens, New York, and her family’s immigration from Trinidad in the early ’90s, according to a press release.

“Nicki Minaj is a force to be reckoned with at everything she touches,” Karey Burke, ABC Family’s Executive Vice President Programming and Development, said in a statement. “We’re beyond thrilled to bring her one-of-a-kind story to our channel. Nicki is an international superstar, yet not everyone knows how inspiring and hilarious her true story is, and we can’t wait to share it with the world.”

Nicki echoed the network’s excitement, saying, “This is one of the more unique adventures I’ve ever embarked on. I couldn’t be more proud and excited to team up with an amazing group of people to give the world something really special.”

Nicki teased a “surprise” for her Barbz (fans) on Tuesday morning on Twitter, then confirmed the TV news by re-Tweeting ABC Family.

The 32-year-old also answered fan questions, revealing the project has taken months to come to fruition.

The superstar also revealed there will be “nationwide search” to find an actress to play “young Nicki.”
