Nicole Richie: Eating Disorder Reports Were ‘Extremely Insulting’

Nicole Richie is striking back against one-time rumors that she had an eating disorder.

“I felt it was a little unfair to say someone has an eating disorder when they don’t,” the former “Simple Life” star told the March issue of Marie Claire UK. “It’s extremely insulting and irresponsible.”

And Nicole, now a healthy-looking mother of two, added it’s hard to win in Hollywood.

“I think when you see me in person, you see that I’m, like, five foot one — I’m a small person,” she said. “When I was heavier, everyone said I was too heavy.”

The rumors arose when Nicole – who had a fuller figure during her reality TV days – was photographed looking particularly skinny in a bikini in 2006.

And she said that the rumors didn’t just stay in the tabloids.

“The only time it bothered me was when I was in a store trying on shoes and these girls came up to me — they were probably like 13 or 14 — and their mother came over, and she said, ‘Are you taking care of yourself, because my girls think that you’re not,’” she told the mag. “That was upsetting.”

But now, Nicole is happy to put those days behind her.

“I’m just one to live in the present and enjoy the time that I’m having,” she said. “Going into my past is just not something that I do.”
